Lillian's Portrait Session

Photography by Richard Min

Areum and Lillian are cousins. Lillian is 6 months older than Areum and she walks (which means she doesn't stay in one spot for pictures, instead she loves to move around.) Lillian's parents missed her 1st year portrait session and thought it wasn't too late. They liked how Areum's images came out. Once again, baby portraits are tough, not so swift and easy-going. The sessions require patience and at the same time, you have to be quick before the baby runs out of energy and throws a tantrum. The process of creating smiles looks easy and simple in the pictures, but my sweats & tears are hidden behind these smiling and fun images. It's always rewarding to see people, especially in this case, babies smiling in my images. I love my job!

Areum's Portrait Session

Photography by Richard Min

Areum takes everything seriously. She rarely smiles. No matter what I do, she doesn't sit still, minding her own business (crawling out of the seamless background most of the time) and looks at me occasionally as though not interested in anything what I do for her. I tickled her. I lowered my body really low on the floor to get down to her eye level position, and entertaining her by making funny voices and body gestures. I tried everything... It didn't work. I had to do something fresh and crazy. Finally, making myself TOTALLY animated and insane in front of her created a little smile on her face! If someone had witnessed me performing this kind of strange activity, he or she probably thought I was completely koo~ koo~ in the head. Wow. That was a hard work. But at the end, it was all worth it. She looks so happy in the images I created for her (especially for Areum's parents). Baby Areum's expressions and gestures in the pictures are genuine and they tell great stories. This portrait session was arranged to commemorate her first birthday. Happy birthday Areum..!!

WERNER Touring Paddles

Photography by Richard Min

Werner Touring Paddles designed by Dami Han

My friend Mingee (5th term Transportation design major) at Art Center introduced me to her friend Dami who is also a student there. Dami had designed and handcrafted this futuristic touring paddles in her previous product design class. Werner is the brand. I really liked the angular and straight line design of the paddles. They reminded me of the stealth bomber's wings. I'm sure the design and functionality go together. These images are for her portfolio.

Bride & Groom #5: Jenny & Rich

Photography by Richard Min

Hanbok Session @ Studio

Jenny & Rich made "The" list..!! #5 that is. =) We had such a fun time together. I got to watch them dancing and shaking in their traditional Korean hanbok to the songs of the legendary British invasion: the Beatles. What a combination..!? You have to become a fan of IMAGES BY MIN on Facebook to view the rest of their "having fun" images. It was all about being comfortable in front of the big camera. "Just being yourself" isn't easy. However, Jenny & Rich were just being themselves and most importantly... just enjoying it. Looking forward to their intimate and not too formal but laid-back and casual wedding ceremony at the Blue Bird Cafe in Culver City. I don't have to show up in a full black suit and a tie. Thanks for this cool and breezy opportunity Jenny! May God bless your marriage and watch over you as you begin your new life together. Congratulations..!!!
